Position Vacant – Casual Medical Receptionist

We are seeking to fill a position for an experienced Casual Medical Receptionist (MUST HAVE AT LEAST 2 YEARS GP EXPERIENCE) to compliment our excellent Reception and Nursing team at our busy modern general practice based in central Cleveland. No guarantee of hours.

The successful applicant must be

  • Flexible and willing to cover additional hours if required including school holidays, Saturdays and sick leave
  • able to start early or finish late
  • able to work some Saturdays 
  • able to work in a team and/or autonomously 
  • able to follow direction
  • enthusiastic, empathetic and have dedication to the role
  • be able to multi-task and juggle many balls in the air at once
  • be a thoughtful and conscientious team player
  • ESSENTIAL: A minimum of 2 years experience in a general practice

The role will include the following

  • Meeting and greeting patients and visitors
  • Assist in the co-ordination of the smooth flow of patients and visitors
  • Communicate with patients, visitors and other staff by verbal and electronic methods
  • Ensure the practice is clean and tidy to maximise comfort
  • Convey a caring attitude by empathising and comforting patients
  • Appointment making
  • General reception duties
  • Billing and receipting patients

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate

  • Strong communication skills
  • Knowledge and experience with Best Practice Software, Microsoft Office (including  Outlook Express)
  • Knowledge and understanding of the MBS item numbers
  • Knowledge of the My Health Record Assisted Registration system
  • Minimum 2 years general practice experience
  • Outstanding time management skills
  • Excellent organisational skills with great attention to detail
  • Strong customer/patient service skills
  • The ability to multi-task in a fast paced medical practice
  • Professional and friendly face to face and telephone manner
