An iron infusion is an effective treatment for iron deficiency. Iron is needed to make red blood cells
or haemoglobin which carries oxygen from the lungs to the muscles, tissues and organs. Low iron levels cause tiredness and affect your ability to function
An iron infusion is a method used to treat iron deficiency in some patients. The purpose of an iron infusion is to improve the iron deficit by directly replenishing the body’s iron stores.
Dr Adrian Ellis is our clinical staff member who offers iron infusions. To arrange an iron infusion an appointment is required with Dr Ellis to discuss the procedure and whether the patient is clinically eligible to have this done. A second appointment is needed to have the iron infusion completed.
The infusion takes approximately 30minutes and patients are required to stay in the practice for 1 hour following the iron infusion to ensure that there are no adverse reactions.
